Task 5 Write a book with Tar Heel Reader

Tar Heel Reader is  a collection of free, easy-to-read, and accessible books on a wide range of topics. Each book can be speech enabled and accessed using multiple interfaces.

We will use this model so the students can create their own book. The story is very simple, in that way they will realize it is a very easy and entertaining activity to do.

I have decided to show the tale ‘The Ant and the Grasshopper’. This is addressed to students of second year of Secondary School. The goal is to put into practise all past tenses.
With this activity they will practice the Past Simple and Past Continuous in English. Students are suppose to create a micro-tale, a very small and original one like the one that I suggest. In case that we desire to have more control over the activity, we could always make them tell us a event they had assited recently, a dream they had or anyother thing.

Apart from that they will have to develop their originality and writing skills. In our story we also try to give a direct message of the importance of life as we have to think in the present and in the future, not just in the present.

You can find my tale here:
